Pattern

The project is located in the city center of Antakya, in an area affected by both the flooding
of the Asi River and earthquakes. Considering Antakya’s rich historical fabric, we decided
to apply the same approach of modernizing the past within the project process to the city’s
historical texture itself, treating its inherent characteristics as if they were patterns.
By analyzing the historical fabric in a manner similar to the patterns in A Pattern Language, we reinterpreted
and re-produced spatial relationships—such as street networks, courtyard systems, and permeable
public spaces—within a contemporary architectural framework.
